HCG Aastha Cancer Centre hosts ‘The Healing Plate’ to highlight role of nutrition and fitness in cancer recovery

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], December 8: HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, the state’s largest private comprehensive cancer care facility, organised “The Healing Plate: Nutrition & Fitness in Cancer Recovery”, an interactive programme to provide breast cancer survivors with practical, evidence-based guidance for recovery and long-term well-being.

The initiative was designed to help patients understand how appropriate nutrition and structured physical activity can aid healing, improve energy levels, and support overall health following cancer treatment. Participants received insights into adopting realistic, sustainable habits to navigate life during and after therapy.

The session featured insights from Shimpli Patil, Head Nutritionist at Luke Coutinho Holistic Healing Systems, who spoke on sustainable dietary habits and the importance of gut health in rebuilding strength. She highlighted how lifestyle modifications such as balanced meals and mindful eating can play a significant role in improving recovery outcomes.

Strength and conditioning specialist and Founder of High 5 Performance, Priyanka Dalal, demonstrated safe and functional movements for cancer survivors. She explained how structured physical activity can help survivors regain strength, improve mobility, and support physical and emotional well-being, especially during the transition phase after treatment.

The initiative was led by Dr DG Vijay and Dr Manasi Shah of HCG Aastha Cancer Centre. The initiative was part of HCG Aastha Cancer Centre’s efforts to provide comprehensive cancer care by supporting patients beyond clinical treatment and offering access to multidisciplinary recovery tools such as nutrition and exercise.

HCG Aastha Cancer Centre is Gujarat’s first dedicated private comprehensive cancer hospital, offering surgical, medical, and radiation oncology services under one roof. Its clinical team is supported by dietitians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and specialised nursing staff.
